About the Item

A very well made Console with a dramatic and Stately presence. A classic serpentine Napoleon III console table, ebonized with elaborate and fine dore details. The top with an inlaid serpentine brass medallion in the center having an almost Damascene style with acanthus scrolls and palmettes on the ends. Fine brass string inlays are around the top inside the wider bronze edge. The conforming serpentine apron is outlined in dore bronze with dore acanthus palmettes in the centers. Fine brass string inlays are on the apron surface. Neoclassical dore putti torsos are atop the cabriole legs with their acanthus arms and bases. Double curved and scrolled stretchers link the legs with dore acanthus leaf details and an urn form finial with dore. With a single mahogany drawer on the apron. Measures: Length. 50", Depth 35", Height. 31" Condition: Please see all detail photos. There are a few worn spots, marks, paint losses and slight scratches on the top, some loose brass string inlays on the top which will require professional re-setting, a few slight lacquer losses and slight nicks to the legs which do not detract from the fine presentation.
