About the Item
A high quality and most handsome French 19th century Charles X Period Mahogany, Rosewood, Maple and Brass center table. This most decorative table is supported on a tripod base with scrolled legs decorated by inlaid foliage and palmette designs, while raised and the original casters. The wonderful baluster shaped central support displays additional Maplewood foliate and palmette inlays. Above is the intricately detailed apron showcasing stunning Mahogany and Rosewood grains, with scrolled foliate inlays of Maple at the front of each drawer. Each of the four drawers is decorated with exceptional foliate inlays surrounding the concealed keyhole, original locks and keys. The elegantly detailed circular top displays a wonderful central flower while surrounded by geometric Maplewood inlays.

A Finely Carved Early 19th Century French Empire Mahogany Centre Table with Ormolu Mounts.
This fine centre table is constructed in rich coloured mahogany with good surface and patination. The top of the table is a grey and white veined piece of marble with a deep moulded edge. The tripartite platform base has incurved triangular sides with flattened bun feet and castors. Above the base moulding is a tapering pedestal with fine quality ormolu mounts with original gilding attached to the centre of each side, illustrating flaming classical torches. Each corner of the base has a carved ram's head and carved foliate detailing.
A nice piece of Empire period furniture.
