French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Marquetry Top Table with One Drawer
About the Item
A striking French 19th century Louis XVI st. Kingwood, Tulipwood, burl Walnut and ormolu center table. The oval one drawer table is raised by elegant circular tapered fluted legs with fine mottled topie shaped feet and lovely fitted foliate ormolu chandelles. The legs are connected by an X shaped stretcher with a beautiful geometric design and central topie shaped finial with most decorative scrolled elements. The frieze displays a richly chased fluted twisted wrap around ormolu band below one drawer decorated with a fine ormolu pull and an inlaid wood background also repeated at the back and sides. Above is the spectacular top with a masterfully inlaid array of exotic woods depicting charming flowers and musical instruments set on a burl wood background and framed within wood bands and a beaded mottled wrap around ormolu gallery.
