About the Item
A most attractive French 19th century Charles X Period Maplewood, Birchwood and marble center table. This handsome table is raised by four Bronze casters supporting short Maplewood scrolled legs ending in large volutes, joined together by a stretcher, and inlaid with fine Birchwood filets. The stretcher holds a socle supporting a central Maplewood column inlaid with Birchwood filets to simulate a gadroon pattern. Surrounding the central columns are S-scroll legs finished with volutes at each extremity and rising from the stretcher to the underside of the Maplewood apron. Resting on the apron is the spectacular Nero Portoro marble inset top, continuing with the same inlaid filets around the perimeter.
