French Mid-19th Century Louis XVI Style Giltwood Center Table
About the Item
A spectacular and impressive French mid-19th century Louis XVI style giltwood center table. The rectangular shaped table is raised by circular tapered legs decorated with acanthus leaves above toupie sabots. The legs are joined by a highly carved and concave ‘H’ stretcher with a central urn of prosperity. The impressive mottled apron is decorated with an egg and dart pattern and additional leaf designs. On the front and the back of the table are charming carved cherubs amidst scrolled acanthus leaf designs and foliate filets at each corner. Above lays the beautiful and original mottled Brèche Orientale de Baixas marble top.
