About the Item

This antique square low table was crafted in the Late Meiji Era (1868–1912). Made entirely of zelkova (keyaki) wood, it features a graceful appearance with beautifully flowing grain patterns throughout. The turned legs add a subtle decorative accent that enhances its refined silhouette. The tabletop shows a naturally formed crack that has developed over time—an imperfection that deepens the table’s wabi-sabi character, adding warmth and a quiet depth to its presence. With proportions that are nearly square—slightly wider than it is deep—it sits neatly in a space without overwhelming it. Its low height reflects traditional Japanese living, where furniture was designed for floor-seated lifestyles, often on tatami mats. While it may appear unusually low by Western standards, this design is intentional and culturally rooted. This piece is ideal as a low tea table in a living area, or as a display stand for ceramics, flowers, or art objects. Its compact size allows it to integrate effortlessly into both traditional and contemporary interiors. Cleaned and disinfected with a non-toxic solution. As an antique piece, minor scratches and marks may be present, each adding to its unique charm and the story it tells over time. It has been carefully inspected and remains in excellent antique condition, with natural signs of age that enhance its character. Weight :19.4lbs(8.8kg) Shipping Information We ship from Japan.
