About the Item

I would like to introduce a very interesting low table. This item was made during the late Edo period to the Meiji period in Japan. Originally, it is believed that a wooden drawer or something similar was placed on top of it. The table is equipped with wooden wheels for easy movement. However, the upper part has now been lost, leaving only the base. This base is crafted from chestnut wood, which features a beautifully rich grain. The tannins present in chestnut wood have deepened in color over time, resulting in a rich brown finish. It exudes a charming atmosphere that embodies the essence of wabi-sabi. There are a few small indentations and slight elevations in some areas of the tabletop; please refer to the detailed images. However, these imperfections are limited to specific areas, so they are not particularly noticeable. You can use this table without any issues for placing vases, magazines, or cups. Additionally, one of the wheels has some corrosion, but it is positioned in such a way that it becomes invisible when the wheel is slightly turned, so there are no aesthetic concerns. This table complements both inorganic spaces with bare concrete or stone floors as well as traditional Japanese interiors. It features a design unique to Japan, making it a standout piece.
