Marble Topped Louis XV Style Table
About the Item
This Louis XV style table made in Italy or France in the 20's exhibits great carving and a fine fluid line. Both countries in that time period made fine furniture for export to America in exacting styles and with time-honored handcraftsmanship sometimes making it hard to locate a point of origin. The table is carved from mahogany, an interesting and expensive choice but one allowing for deeply detailed carving and good structural stability. The finish is an old dry paint in a grey, tan color. The paintwork has a lot of rub thrus but also has a great old surface and patina. The paint color very much compliments the old rogue royal marble top. The surface of the stone is nicely veined and with a fine mellow surface and is not overly shiny. Within the stone, you will find a fine grey and tan color as well as white and a deep rich burgundy.

This large and impressive wrought iron Louis XV style console, crafted in the 1980s, is accented with large polished cast bronze mounts consisting of acanthus leaves, laurel leaves and ball spacers between the steel elements. The table wall mounts and appears to float in space with dynamic tension. The top and bottom are crafted from tessellated dark green gray marble that adds a rich patterned surface to the overall design.
