Mid 19th century center table with writing slope

About the Item

Mid 19th century center table with writing slope circa 1860. Fine quality empire period Swedish flame mahogany center table.  Oval top with the unusual feature of having a fitted writing slope in the drawer. Oval top with arranged flame mahogany veneers, below which a generous apron and reeded detail.  Single deep drawer to the front which opens to reveal a fitted interior, consisting of central leather writing slope with adjustable heights, which also slides to reveal further storage, flanked either side by 2 pen drawers. Shaped stem, all raised on a stunning quadriform base with scrolling feet and matching woodwork. Recently re-polished in our workshop, good rich colour. Minor restorations to woodwork, minor wear to leather surface. Knee height: 24" Writing height: 27 1/4"
