About the Item
Elegant modern sculpted coffee table designed and manufactured by Gordon Furniture Co. (Also seen as Gordon’s Fine Furniture).
Made in the USA. Circa 1950s.
This beautiful coffee table features a solid walnut base showing of beautiful curves, craftsmanship, and popping grain. Stylish and sleek but plenty strong enough to support it’s original Italian travertine marble top. Designed so that the top appears to float between its two sculpted walnut walls. The travertine is richly grained and adds elegance while creating an exceptionally modern aesthetic.
Often attributed to Bertha Schaefer for Singer & Sons. Though it does reflect design elements brought to the American market by Singer & Sons from designers like her and Gio Ponti.

- Condition:Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Table is in refinished condition. There is a profession repair made years ago where there is a crack that has been glued and then a pocket screw for extra support. Very strong repair that is hardly noticeable.
