Fortunata is making furniture - a collection of superb antique White Oak objects with great thought in each design. All of our pieces are made from repurposed American white oak, felled possibly centuries ago. Every piece, while bearing distinctive markings, share a timeless, old wood style, guided by the hand of exceptional Alabama craftsmen using the best joinery techniques and finishes. This character of imperfection and the resulting patina are precisely the appeal of our furniture, able to tell years of preeminent hardwood growth and evolution. The finish that’s created on wood by time alone can make for a desirable piece. Our Old Wood and wax-finished items embolden that time-worn quality and give the texture of an antique. Pairing this rustic patina of Old Wood with a modern perspective creates a striking juxtaposition and makes for some of Fortunata Design’s most unique statement pieces.
