Stijl

About the Item

De Stijl, Dutch for “The Style”, refers to a body of work from 1917 to 1931 founded in the Netherlands. The art style features the three primary colours (red, blue and yellow), the three primary values (black, white and grey) and the two primary directions (horizontal and vertical). Stijl (Dutch for “Style”) is a coffee table following the principles of De Stijl. Recognized by its iconic style which involves reduction to the elemental forms, following 'De Stijl'. Adding a 3rd axis to a 2-D art type, Stijl is a homage to Piet Mondrian, to the art movement which revolutionised the world, forever.
