This 1970s Italian coffee table is a geometric and highly organized composition, built from walnut, glass, and grey lacquered inserts. The form presents itself as a rectilinear grid, rational and modular. The glass top exposes a structured interior of intersecting compartments. Low and boxy in shape, the piece has a strong architectural presence. What sets the piece apart is its surprising versatility. Hidden within the rigid frame are a variety of compartments: drawers that slide out, bins that tilt forward; each opens in a distinct direction. While some sections are purely open-faced, others are tucked behind panels. The compartments vary in size, accommodating a range of objects, such as books, papers, and tools.
