Antique Low Cocktail Table.. A classically styled and composed Chinese antique low table of Qing Dynasty. Hardwood waisted table with turned in legs of horse hoof feet. A waisted table is one where the top sits raised above a waist set on the frame with legs. This is a splendid example of a small waisted low table with great attention to its design and detail. These smaller tables used primarily before the 20th century are also referred to as meditation or scholars tables and also Kang tables (traditionally a Kang table is much larger). This mostly because such a specail small table would be used to hold objects to study. Today these tables are perfect small cocktail tables or as a side table. Wonderful for placing books, drinks, and also as display stands for objects and art. These tables are extremely usable and collectible, also enhancing home environments with the warmth of antiques. In very good condition wear to the lower legs and feet.
