Antique Petrified Wood Tree Stump Drinks Table or Stool Covered in Gesso

About the Item

Rich in texture and geological history, this antique petrified wood stump table serves as both a sculptural accent and a functional surface. Naturally fossilized over millennia, the piece began as a living tree, slowly transformed as its organic material was replaced by minerals—preserving its form while creating a dense, stone-like structure. Now covered in a light layer of gesso, the surface emphasizes the intricate texture of the bark while softening the palette into a harmonious blend of beige, warm browns, and subtle greys. Used as a drinks table, side table, or low stool, this fossilized wood form introduces a natural element into both rustic and contemporary interiors. Its compact scale makes it an easy companion to a sofa, lounge chair, or even as a bedside accent. The unique ridges and irregular surface give the piece a tactile, raw beauty, while the mineral content reflects light with quiet depth. Though ancient in origin, this petrified wood table feels remarkably modern in spirit—grounded, sculptural, and effortlessly versatile. Use it indoors to break up clean-lined upholstery with an organic touch, or place it under a covered patio where its earthy presence can echo the outdoors. Whether in a coastal retreat, urban loft, or curated living room, this one-of-a-kind stump table blends nature, history, and design into a single functional object. A true conversation piece with enduring style, it brings a grounded, elemental quality into any space.
