About the Item
Unique hand-crafted flat bar iron bench or coffee table from a Baltimore area estate, circa 1920s. The frame cold-riveted heavy iron has been powder coated a lovely cinnabar hue. The top is solid green slate and in excellent condition. Underside and frame detail photos show the extreme skill with which this piece was made; The Greek key shape of the base as well as the construction and age leads us to believe thus was created during the late 1920s-early 1930s. It brings to mind some of the great designers of the French art deco period, such as Jean-Michel Frank or Emile Jacques-Ruhlman; but it could also have been inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. It’s a special table regardless, and definitely one of a kind. Absolutely stunning.
