This simple wood and glass coffee table was inspired by a Hungarian Art Deco design from Budapest. The solid walnut frame holds two glass shelves and has been given a very dark coat of French polish. In the 1920's and 30's, many bold furniture experiments were undertaken in Hungary that reflected the new political and cultural thinking of the era. Many Hungarian pieces were influenced by the nearby German Bauhaus school, which emphasized simplicity and function.
