Established in 2017, StoutDuck is a partnership between Matt Duckworth and Rose Stout. From our workshop and studio just outside of Skipton, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, we are dedicated to designing and creating exquisitely handcrafted contemporary free standing furniture and fitted furniture. Combining wood, metal and stone, we produce made to order limited edition studio pieces as well as bespoke commissions. It's important for us to know where our wood comes from and we firmly believe that the history of the tree is part of the story of the finished piece. We work with a few small local sawmills who source their timber from managed woodland and trees that are either storm damaged or have come to the end of their growing cycle. Buying from them we know the timber has come from a sustainable source, and is often milled on sight, reducing the carbon footprint. It also allows us greater control over the selection of our timber, ensuring that we are able to choose pieces of exactly the right colour and grain pattern to complement perfectly the design of each piece. Sustainability is important to us and we are constantly looking at ways to reduce waste and use eco-friendly products.
