Campaign Style Glass Leather Top Mahogany Nesting Centre Coffee Tables 1950s
About the Item
A gorgeous and rare set of five Mid Century mahogany, leather and glass-topped centre nesting coffee tables in good vintage condition. Likely made in England in the 1950s after the earlier late-Victorian ‘Campaign’ syle, this delightful and very useful set of occasional/coffee tables will add bygone charm, elegance and intrigue to any interior.
Crafted from richly hued mahogany, this enchanting set of tables has lovely touches of detail and features a large main circular table under which four further quarter tables ‘nest’. All five tables have lovely quality mottled olive-green leather tops, each with decoratively embossed golden trim detailing, and protective over-glass inserts.
Beautifully fashioned, the tables all have reeded trim detailing around the top aprons and attractively turned, tapering legs with fluted detailing. The main table is a very useful size as a centre table and has under-slats for the four quarter tables to actually hang from when not being used. The four quarter tables are ideal as easily moveable mini drinks tables when required and each has a handy and shapely lower shelf.
All in all this is an exceedingly charming and useful set of tables, which will invoke the aspiring-upper-middle-class finery of post-war 1950s Britain, and will add lovely colour, interest and decorative appeal to any setting.
CONDITION
This set is in good vintage condition. Structurally sound and sturdy, the tables have to-be-expected signs of their age and use, including minor scratches to the glass, nicks and bumps to the mahogany. Overall they’re a wonderful rare set in good vintage condition and if well looked after they should be just as enchanting for generations to come – please see the photos.
