Ceramic and Teak Coffee Table by Tue Poulsen, signed.
Tue Poulsen is a highly acclaimed Danish ceramicist, artist, and designer, born in 1939. Known for his prolific studio practice and mid-century modern designs, his works range from large, heavy stoneware sculptures to delicate, transparent porcelain pieces.
Poulsen studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen from 1959 to 1962 and debuted as an artist in 1963. Since the 1960s, he has maintained a permanent gallery and studio in Fårevejle, in the east of Zealand, Denmark. This piece is from his brutalist period, during the 1960s and 1970s, characterized by a deliberate roughness and unrefined appearance.
