Christian Krekels Coffee Table in Etched Brass, Belgium, 1990
About the Item
Coffee table designed and produced by Christian Krekels in Belgium in 1990. This organically shaped coffee table is a true piece of art and features a gold-colored brass table top and sculptural legs made of enameled black steel. The moon-shaped table top features an incredible etching reminiscent to a Japanese karesansui or zen rock garden. The maker’s signature and date are etched in the top, covered by a metal sur-plus sculpture by Krekels. The exposed metal obtained a great patina over the years, some using marks as shown in the pictures. Included is a catalogue of Kristian Krekels with documented color photos.
Christian Krekels, born in Belgium, enjoyed an education as a sculptor and later as a diamond cutter in Antwerp. His eye for precision and the selection of materials make his furniture pieces reals works of art. He mostly found inspiration in nature to define shapes and motives.
