About the Item

En la década de 1930, Jean-Michel Frank diseñó un par de mesas bajas rectangulares de mica para la sala de fumadores de su propio apartamento en París. Los diseños de Jean-Michel Frank fueron producidos por Comte, con la aprobación de Frank. Combinando lo mejor de Frank y lo mejor de la tradición argentina, la original mesa baja rectangular de mica fue realizada por Comte, hacia 1936, en madera de roble encalado como un encargo especial para el socio fundador de Comte, José “Pepe” Enrique Tivoli. Estampado en la parte inferior con el número de producción de Comte (ver fotos a continuación). Los diseños de JMF han sido muy imitados, sin embargo, nada se compara con la calidad y la sensación de lo real. Jose Enrique Tivoli, siempre conocido como “Pepe”, fue arquitecto y miembro fundador de COMTE. En 1932 se unió a Ignacio y Ricardo Pirovano y Mariano Mansilla Moreno, (un arquitecto con quien concibió algunos hermosos edificios como la Asociación Cristiana de Jóvenes en el céntrico barrio de San Nicolás de Buenos Aires), en la compañía que crearía y amueblaría muchos de los mejores interiores modernistas clásicos de Argentina.
