Driftwood Burl Vintage Base for Coffee or Occasional Table

About the Item

This is unique, like most driftwood formations. A burl driftwood and glass coffee or occasional table base. The glass top is for display only. This is from the 1980s--a bulbous footed base, with out-flaring supports. This is hefty, solid and in very good condition. The base can accommodate a square or round piece of glass. It works well for a coffee table or an occasional or side table. Driftwood furniture has roots in coastal communities, where people historically repurposed wood that washed up from the shore, to create functional, rustic furnishings. In the early 20th century, driftwood gained popularity as an art form, with artists and craftsmen embracing its organic shapes and weathered appearance.
