Dutch three tiered Bauhaus side table, 1930s

About the Item

A rare design three tiered bauhaus table, Netherlands, 1930s. The unusual design gives it a very modernist appearance. The modest size makes it an ideal piece to use for a special accent in a room. Combines well with minimalist bauhaus furniture, but can also be placed in a more classic or even a vintage interior. The table is very stable and sturdy, well made, with the two lower tiers in lacquered wood and a chrome ring. It has a glass tabletop. The disks for feet gives the table more stability as well as appeal. There are signs of age and wear, as the table is in its original state. These include scratches on the glass top and some wear on the chrome. Bauhaus style is known for its emphasis on functionality, simplicity, and clean lines. This side table perfectly reflects the principles. Bauhaus design often features simple geometric shapes such as squares, rectangles, circles, and straight lines. The focus is on functionality and form. Some iconic designers associated with the Bauhaus movement include Marcel Breuer, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Walter Gropius.
