Early IN-50 Coffee Table with Green Glass by Isamu Noguchi

About the Item

USA, 1940s Early version 3/4" uranium green glass IN-50 coffee or cocktail table designed by Isamu Noguchi for Herman Miller. CONDITION NOTES: The original glass is in fair condition with one area that has a larger imperfection; this area is smooth to the touch, not sharp. The base, per the daughter of the original owner, was originally ebonized but was refinished to the current blonde / natural ash it is now. I removed the pin from one leg, it appears to have some tape applied to one end at least that I am imagining was for stabilization purposes. I left it as found. Age-appropriate fine scratches and marks, very pleasant patina. DIMENSIONS: One part of the base measures 14 1/8" H; the second piece measures 14.5" H; One section length is 29.5" L, one at 29.25" L. Base thickness is 1.75". Glass is 3/4" thickness with a pencil polished edge. It has areas of fine undulation in the perimeter. Overall, 50" x 36" x 15.5" H

Early Isamu Noguchi Table for Herman Miller, 1950s
By Isamu Noguchi
Located in Seattle, WA
An early Noguchi IN50 coffee table with the original green glass, early 1950s. black base with pantina matching age, straight pin ( later pins has locking fins). moderate scratches on the glass, as seen in the last few photos Authenticity- this table is guaranteed authentic by a number of defining characteristics: 1 ) the distinctive contour of the sculpted base, including the subtle concavity along the long axis of each piece so that light can be seen underneath the center, and that the top balances on two points of the downward pointing piece, not its entire length. 2) solid aluminum pin with no locking fins compared to new examples 3) thick green glass top with ribbon edge This original Noguchi Table...
