Early Production 1st Generation Ms. Pac-Man Cocktail Table with “SpeedUp Chip”

About the Item

A vintage early issue Ms. Pac-Man cocktail table table game in excellent working order with highly popular aftermarket "Speed Up" chip installed. The chips in this cabinet are all stamped 1981 as is the game overlay, there are no graphics on the cabinet body and it is done in the faux wood laminate popular at the time in an attempt to make things like Atari consoles look organic. Laminate shows one chip but is in otherwise fantastic condition and shows no cuts burns or signs of abuse. Coin door is lightly retouched and again does not show signs of abuse or neglect. Left coin slot needs adjusting to drop quarters correctly across the trigger. Right slot functions correctly. All boards and electronics have been recently cleaned and the screen adjusted for optimum focus and color saturation. Screen will have a lighter quadrant where the focus falls out slightly if the cabinet is not sitting level. (See Screen Photo). Please consult the video shot after levelling the feet and the light quadrant is gone. This levelling and color change seems to be a property of the monitor itself and not related to the game or its components. "Speed Up" Chip is installed underneath the expansion board with ribbon connector thus cant be seen with out uninstalling the second board and is probably the official Midway chip as the install appears too professional for a local arcade guy modding out a machine with a black market chip in 82. Player 1 Joystick has seen more use than Player 2 and the difference in wear is noticeable during gameplay when doing A/B tests however the Joystick will not be to blame for getting cornered by a ghost it operates seamlessly and without glitch. Gameplay is smooth for both players and with out glitches or screen errors deep into the 100k's scoring so we will assume the program runs its full length out to the kill screen if you are that good. I believe it takes four hours to make the game shut itself off..... good luck. Overlay shows one crack below Credits on the screen (See Photo) and the overlay has warping from age but is not damaged or cracked and the limited graphics are unscathed and vibrant. While I'm not a video game historian of note is that this game was released and copyrighted in February of 1982. Yet the chips and the overlay read Copyright 1981.. Given the lack of additional graphics on an older wood laminate cabinet its possible this unit is among the first cabinets shipped for the games SOCAL debut at the Sherman Oaks Galleria and subsequently other local mall arcades during its initial run. Currently set up for 2 plays per quarter, Five Lives Per Game and Extra Life at 20k Points Comes with service manual, new door lock and keys and new lock and keys for coin box. While the game has no technical issues. We are working on resoring it further and service notes will be added with dates as work is done. 9/17.22 Currently working on the interior lighting for the coin door and joystick bays with hopes of LED conversion once the circuit is diagnosed.
