About the Item
One of a kind handcrafted small table in copper, stone and glass depicting the Sardana dance. Spain, 1950s-1960s.
This outstanding table was entirely made by hand (Please see in the detail the Master's meticulous work)
It has a gorgeous foliage and floral design with Sardana dancers on the top.
This richly decorated table is full of copper foliage and flower miniature decorations. The table stands up on five black glass feet with plant stands adorning each one. At the central part of the base and at the top underneath it has natural stone accents. The round top is surrounded by rose flowers and a group of dancers dancing the Sardana around a central floral decoration.
('Sardana' is a traditional dance from Catalonia in Spain. The Sardana is a style of dancing that is said to have originated around the sixteenth century, becoming a very popular dance in the areas of Garrotxa, Empordà and Roselló in the nineteenth-century, when the modern Sardana choreography was developed.
The Sardana is part of Catalonia’s festivities heritage catalogue, having been declared in 2010 as a festivity of national interest.
To dance the Sardana, people give hands, joining in a circle. Holding each other’s hands, the dancers raise their arms, following the leader’s indications for movements and timing. The greatest challenge of Sardana dancing, is getting the steps right, since most of the choreography happens from the waist down.)

This pedestal table has a wavy edged top heavily decored by the Hammer work. It stands on a tripod base with scroll ended feet and a beatiful twisting decorative detail at the central part of the stem.
Terrific aged patina with rusty accents.
Its eclectic design mixing Gothic and Brutalist accents marks the difference.
Use it as small side table, candle stand, cocktails table, smokers table or occasional table for parties around the sofa and display it with other Martini tables in different sizes to create a set.
