About the Item
Coffee table in the style of Guglielmo Ulrich typical Art Deco of late 1930s wood with glass top in precious parchment paper on the feet.
Ulrich's production is characterised by a great prolificness in producing a large quantity of unique furniture and furnishings. Each piece is expressly designed to be unique and produced with great care, often embellished with precious materials such as galuchat, leather and imported precious woods. The uniqueness of the individual object is enhanced by the fact that it is placed in an environment all carefully designed by Ulrich himself, with several unique pieces of furniture designed to resonate with each other. For each interior, Ulrich designed both the main furnishings and all the accessories, advocating an idea of living conceived as a total work of art, borrowed from the ideas of the Viennese Secession, in an ideal blend of architecture and interiors. His vast production therefore includes sofas, beds, armchairs, bar furniture, wardrobes, coffee tables, desks, toilets, chairs, tables, frames, clocks, lamps, table elements, umbrella stands, magazine racks, fireplaces, fireplace tools, fabrics, vases, mirrors, flower boxes, candlesticks, consoles. His production was conceived for a specific public, the elitist Milanese upper middle class, whose 'fashions' Ulrich followed, but never completely adhered to, preferring a 'moderate renewal' to the total invention and renewal of typologies, adopting an eclectic approach and giving each trend his own personal interpretation.
Each object is therefore characterised by a very high degree of care in the design of the forms, the types of construction and the materials used, which are thus combined in objects that are always defined as 'elegant' and 'refined'. Of particular note and interest are the numerous chairs made by Ulrich, which manage to combine both classicism and lightness through the use of curved and sinuous shapes. The variation of the sections also manages to give lightness and elegance.
