Italian Coffee Table with 18th Century Marble Top and Carved Giltwood Base

About the Item

Italian coffee table with 18th century marble top and carved giltwood base. Measurements: cm W 91 x D 49 x H 52, top thickness 4 cm. This coffee table, from the center, was made in Italy, with the use of ancient materials, between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. The plan, dating back to the 18th century, is paved with the precious and rare African marble on a “peperina” stone base. The underlying structure consists of four legs in carved and gilded wood with vegetable motif decorations in Louis XIV style. The legs are connected to each other by richly carved crossbars that converge in the center where there is a vase decorated with a floral still life. The table, very decorative, is easily inserted in any room, such as a living room, a study or entrance, perfect in the middle of the room, next to two sofas or approached to a wall. The marble top is very resistant and allows the daily use of the coffee table.

Italian Baroque carved gilt and lacquered wood center table, 18th century This particular center table is made of golden and lacquered in ochre finely carved wood with rich floral decorations. The band below the top has a perforated ornament with volutes, phytomorphic elements and rocaille taste, characteristic of the Louis XV era. The legs are arched and moved with curly foot. They are joined together by crossed crossbars that create a refined game thanks to the richness of the carvings. The structure is made with ancient material of Turin (Italy) manufacture of the eighteenth century. The oblong and octagonal top was made in the early years of the twentieth century, in wood treated with faux yellow marble.
