About the Item

This antique low table was crafted in the Taisho Era (1912–1926), featuring a pine top and turned chestnut legs with a naturally aged patina. It carries the quiet beauty of a well-lived life. The pine surface bears gentle signs of use—subtle wear that reflects its long history of everyday living. The turned legs show fine craftsmanship, their form simple yet refined. As is typical of Japanese furniture from this period, the table is designed for floor-seated living, reflecting a cultural preference for closeness to the ground and an atmosphere of calm simplicity. A single drawer beneath the top provides convenient storage for writing tools or small personal items. The natural wood finish has matured beautifully, deepening in tone and character over time—an embodiment of wabi-sabi, where quiet imperfection conveys lasting grace. Cleaned and disinfected with a non-toxic solution. Drawer moves smoothly. As an antique piece, minor scratches and marks may be present, each adding to its unique charm and the story it tells over time. It has been carefully inspected and remains in excellent antique condition, with natural signs of age that enhance its character. The interior dimensions are as follows (in inches, with centimeters in parentheses): Drawer: W18.1" × D15.3" × H2.3" (46.0 × 38.8 × 5.8 cm) Weight: 17.4 lbs (7.9 kg) Shipping Information We ship from Japan.
