Very old Rustic style coffee table made in Japan.
The furniture is from the Meiji period (1860s-1900s).
It is carved from a large zelkova tree.
The annual rings and grain of the zelkova are wonderful.
It has a sense of dynamism and presence just by being there.
This furniture evokes the spirit of “wabi-sabi,” the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence.
