Large Low Table with Japanese Antique Paper Pasted / Coffee Table / Wabi-Sabi

About the Item

This is a low table with old Japanese paper pasted on the top board. The board is a board used for old sewing in Japan, and it uses a thick and heavy board. Japanese paper used to transport cocoons called cocoon bags is used and pasted on the top plate. At that time, the cocoon bag made of Japanese paper was a product ordered by a specially particular silk maker, and only about 20% to 30% of the total was made from the beginning, and all the others were cotton bags, so it was a rare item. The Japanese paper layered from the top for reinforcement creates an art-like design. The wrinkles and color changes caused by being used are natural changes over time, and they have the beauty of wabisabi and a unique appearance that can not be expressed by human hands. The base is an old wooden bowl like a mortar. Zelkova is used. The bottom remains a trace of hand carving, and there is also a change in color over time, and it looks like folk art. With a simple rounded shape, the silhouette is beautiful, and the calm black texture is very beautiful. It can be used as a coffee table, sofa table, or exhibition stand. The table using Japanese paper, a traditional Japanese material, creates a space like no other. Weight: 44.5kg (board 26.5kg, base 18kg)
