About the Item

A Chinese late Qing Dynasty antique low Kang waterfall coffee table from the early 20th century, with three drawers and brass accents. Created in China during the Late Qing Dynasty in the early years of the 20th century, this low table, which could nowadays be used as a coffee table or a low side table, features a rectangular top gracefully falling down on the two solid side supports. These side panels are resting on scrolling extremities. The façade showcases three drawers, fitted with brass ring pulls on quadrilobe backplates and separated from one another through additional brass details. Coffee tables as we call them now evolved from the Kang tables that were developed in the Ming Dynasty. Those low tables were long and rectangular with short legs and placed on a kang which was a raised three-walled platform. With its elegant lines and dark patina, this Chinese late Qing Dynasty low Kang table circa 1900 will make for a lovely addition to any living room or hallway.
