About the Item
The Coffee Table, materialized in white bronze, shows a relief of solidifying
wax in which textile is dipped, then draped, in a fixed position. It is by placing
layer over layer, how slowly strength is increasing within the model.
The series tells about her diversity of material she interconnects. Carved wood, casted white bronze, sheet metals, glass. While observing every piece in this body of work, they are ‘layered’ through another meaning.
The works are based on the idea of the assembly in layers within one single
material yet continues through transitions into another materiality.
Layer over Layer Coffee Table was part of the performance Exhibition "The Theater of Things" the show transformed the gallery into a domestic stage — an ever-evolving space shaped by the creative voices of seven designers. Each night, one of them slept in the space. Each morning, a journalist, curator, or critic joined for coffee and conversation — exploring what it means to live among collectible pieces.
Inspired by radical gestures like Gianni Pettena’s La Casa all’Elba and Joseph Beuys’ Coyote performance, the exhibition is both lived experience and open dialogue.
