About the Item
A spectacular one-of-a-kind shellwork decorated table, in the manner of / likely attributed to designer Anthony Redmile (British, b.1940).
Extraordinary artist craftsmanship and exceptional execution, this fine quality handcrafted work of functional art dates to the late 20th century, featuring a visually striking and most impressive sculptural natural sea shell encrusted X-form cross-stretcher base, with stunning various shell specimen arrangements throughout, naturalistic coral like encrusted supports and wooden bead accents, topped with a high-quality thick rectangular glass top with beveled edge.
The London-based interior designer and gallery owner Antony Redmile created some of the most unusual works of 1970s and 1980s London. Describing his interior style as ‘maximalist’ and taking inspiration from a myriad of sources, including exoticism, neo-classicism and travel. His original and eclectic style has led to pieces of high-impact that make a strong visual statement!
