Marsura Salvino coffee table, Italy 1958
About the Item
Salvino Marsura was born in Treviso in 1938 and learnt his craft in the dynamic workshop of sculptor Toni Benetton. His ironwork art and furniture relishes in the manual aesthetic of the forge, giving voice to the raw metal and the processes of its manipulation including sweltering heat, hammering, bending and welding. The results can be beautifully abstract or sensitive observations of natural forms. This is shown in the base of the table which grows outwards mimicking the roots of a tree.
