About

Beautiful and extremely rare, top of the range, sculptural coffee table with hidden internal illuminated bar compartment designed by famous italian decorator ,Massimo Papiri and fabricated by Atelier ‘Mario Sabot’ ,Italy in 1973. This coffe table with beige marbled green it's a special order in 1974, so unique model. This table is published in the May 1973 issue of CASA VOGUE. Accoring to page 62 in James P Goss' book "POP CULTURE FLORIDA' Papiri’s interior design commissions include among others the Ritz hotel in Paris as well as interiors for film stars such as Sylvestor Stallone, Papiri redesigned the interior of Stallone’s coconut grove mansion. Papiri and Willy Rizzo were responsible for a plethora of beautiful, luxuriant and high end design pieces during the late 1960s and 1970s period, many of which were produced under license by Mario Sabot’s atelier. This stunning bar table is finished in stainless steel with beige marbled green, special order in 1974, unique model, laminate to the upper horizontal surfaces with a beautiful, thick, curved transparent acrylic window which closes the vertical edge of the swiveling bar lid which allows light to spill though when the bar is illuminated. There is also a large circular stainless steel, Dual purpose, bucket around which the opening bar compartment swivels. This bucket can either be used as a planter, to exhibit a decorative object or as an external ice bucket. The hidden internal bar is illuminated and has a molded methacrylate tray to hold bottles and ice cubes in position. Very rare and desirable and a picture of elegance and quality. The height of the lower surface is 10.6" (27 cm), the second level tier is 40.5 cm high and the cylindrical stainless steel container is 16" (45.5 cm) high. The diameter of the table when closed is 53.5" (136 cm) and when opened the diameter is 58" (147cm). LITERATURE: ‘CASA VOGUE’, MAY 1973, page 46.
