About the Item

Mid-century chestnut black marble top coffee table was fashioned from thick planks and timbers of old-growth, well-seasoned chestnut, providing a remarkably naturalistic and charming wood grain appearance on the legs, apron and framework around the slab of black marble. Look closely and you can see the fossils of the sea creatures that comprise the building blocks of the marble, created over the course of millions of years of geologic activity. Such a table was very popular during the 60's when sofas were designed to be low. Makes an excellent platform for risers, as well! Circa 1965 Measures 14H x 59W x 31.5D.
