About the Item

Decorate a den or living room with this elegant mid-century cocktail table from southern France. Crafted in Vallauris circa 1950, the table rests on a hand-forged wrought-iron trestle base with twisted stretcher and wide scrolled feet for stability. The rectangular oak frame surrounds a richly glazed ceramic top featuring a stylized bird and floral composition in earthy brown, ochre, and red tones, bordered by colorful faience tiles. The surface is signed J.G. Picard, a Vallauris ceramist active in the 1950s known for his modernist decorative work. This expressive table blends rustic craftsmanship with mid-century artistry, embodying the vibrant ceramic tradition for which Vallauris became famous. The piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, showcasing a warm patinated surface and subtle color variations that enhance its vintage charm.
