Modern Coffee Table in Birch Wood and Glass, Yacht Edition
About the Item
Abyss Horizon is a unique, modern coffee table design from Duffy London. The Yacht edition piece is specially designed to be more light-weight and comes with internal bolt holes for fixing to the ground.
A dramatic, circular coffee table made from glass, plexiglass and birch wood, the Abyss Horizon impresses with it's dazzling turquiose colour display.
First sketched out in 2002, the design was initially conceived as a study of depth and our perception of it as the colour darkens as a result of how light interacts with each layer of the table.
Glass and wood materials combine to create a three-dimensional viewing canvas; the yellow-tinted wood reacts with the layers of blue glass to produce an array of luxurious turquoise colours – a vivid depiction of an ocean topography, as if a mythical power has lifted a perfect circle cut straight from the Earth’s crust to use as his own personal ornament.
A truly statement piece - a limited edition Abyss Horizon piece is on display at The Louvre in Paris - Abyss Horizon is one of Duffy London's most acclaimed pieces. Limited to just 25 editions.

Duffy London Ltd
Ideas-based modern furniture and collectible design from Christopher Duffy and British design studio Duffy London. Combining art and function, and playing with the concepts of gravity, geography, and optical illusion. We work with a talented team of designers, artisans, and manufacturers to turn these concepts into high-quality pieces of statement furniture and sculpture. Works are divided into six main collections - Abyss, Solo, Megalith, Up! Balloon, Swing, and Meeting Pod. Chris and the studio are constantly innovating and releasing new modern furniture designs Works have featured at Art Basel, Art Miami and 100% Design London. In 2016 Duffy London was a partner for the PAD London 20th Century Design & Decorative Arts Fair. In 2019, a limited edition of the Abyss Coffee Table was acquired by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs at The Louvre in Paris to become part of the permanent National collection. Everything we do is handmade to order and bespoke by skilled craftspeople here in the UK. We only use wood from sustainably managed forests and other eco-friendly building materials and mediums. Chris founded Duffy London in 2002.
