About the Item
A modern statement piece of furniture from British designer Christoper Duffy. The Abyss table is designed to catch the eye and act as an immediate conversation piece.
Duffy casts an eye into the ancient with the Abyss Horizon – looking to the depths of the ocean to dream up a dramatic circular coffee table, that instantly takes the mind to stories of a flat earth, or disc world, and introduces the majesty of the big blue to the interior as well as servicing you with somewhere quite impressive to place your cup of tea!
The intricate layering of glass and wood materials combines to create a three-dimensional viewing canvas; the yellow-tinted wood reacts with the layers of blue glass to produce an array of luxurious colours - a vivid depiction of the seabed, offering a glimpse into the thrilling depths from the comfort of the home.
One of Christopher Duffy's most acclaimed designs, in 2019 the piece was acquired by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs at The Louvre in Paris to go on permanent display as part of the National Collection.
The Abyss Horizon coffee table is part of the Abyss collection.

Duffy London Ltd
Ideas-based modern furniture and collectible design from Christopher Duffy and British design studio Duffy London. Combining art and function, and playing with the concepts of gravity, geography, and optical illusion. We work with a talented team of designers, artisans, and manufacturers to turn these concepts into high-quality pieces of statement furniture and sculpture. Works are divided into six main collections - Abyss, Solo, Megalith, Up! Balloon, Swing, and Meeting Pod. Chris and the studio are constantly innovating and releasing new modern furniture designs Works have featured at Art Basel, Art Miami and 100% Design London. In 2016 Duffy London was a partner for the PAD London 20th Century Design & Decorative Arts Fair. In 2019, a limited edition of the Abyss Coffee Table was acquired by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs at The Louvre in Paris to become part of the permanent National collection. Everything we do is handmade to order and bespoke by skilled craftspeople here in the UK. We only use wood from sustainably managed forests and other eco-friendly building materials and mediums. Chris founded Duffy London in 2002.
We can provide different sizes on request and one-off bespoke pieces including an Amber variation.
