About the Item

This iconic 'Egyptian' table was designed by Mogens Lassen in 1940. This particular table is the rare large version in solid and veneered teak wood, produced by the cabinet maker A.J. Iversen in Denmark in the 1960s. Based on an ancient Egyptian model, the table is a flexible coffee table that exemplifies the functionalism present in classic furniture types. The elegant design is marked by round top on a cross shaped base with folding runner legs. Polished brass details on the folding legs and brass capped floor stretchers. The slightly raised edge of the top is another aesthetic nod to the campaign furniture style of this distinct table. The table has a small sliding brass latch under the top so that the legs can be folded. The table is in very good condition, with minor signs of wear consistent with age and use. The brass elements have been polished.
