About the Item

Matericity on top of every thing. A monolitic block of “Ceppo” stone typical of Milanese architectural landscape represent the essential character of this collection piece. The passion of Spinzi for Mid Century furniture is well represented in this collection in which the structures of this piece come from his personal retro’ furniture collection. (One off pieces). The coffee table is original from 1950 and it has a steel frame, and a wood top and oink formica where the stone top is installed upside down like a tray. The table has been customized by the design studio applying a layer of this iconic stone extracted from the Italian pre-alps. The concept of taking this beautiful and timeless material to the interiors was the main focus, choosing the best pieces of stone texture and pattern to match the objects and dress some furniture in a “made to measure” process that could create elegance and a great crossover between vintage furniture and this natural, contemporary material. Some more information about this material: This raw and organic stone called "Ceppo di Gre’" become one of the most used stone to cover the facades of buildings in Milan after the world wars and somehow it characterizes a footprint as a Classic building construction material for Milan architecture. It has a concrete look but it’s actually natural stone made by sedimentary rocks left for millions years under pressure and chemical reactions, forming what we see now.
