About the Item

This Carlotta model table set was designed by Antonio Citterio for the Italian manufactory Flexform in 1997. The lightweight structure is created from flat, chrome-plated metal. The top is made of wood, which has been varnished with a scratch-resistant white matt lacquer. The tables are part of the versatile Carlotta product family that includes a small armchair, pouffe, chair, tables and bookcase. The collection draws on a design matrix close to rationalism with a hint of Bauhaus school influence. Antonio Citterio was born in 1950 in Meda. He is an Italian architect and furniture designer. In 1972, he obtained a degree in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano, and then began working as a designer and consultant for industrial design. From 1987 to 1996, he collaborated with Terry Dwan, designing buildings in Europe and Japan. In 2000, together with Patricia Viel, he founded Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel - an interdisciplinary practice of architecture and interior design. The company operates internationally, developing complex projects on all scales in cooperation with a network of specialized consultants. In 1987 and 1994, Antonio Citterio was awarded the Compasso d'Oro award. In 2006-2016 he was a professor of design at Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio in Switzerland. In 2008, he was awarded the title of Honorary Royal Designer by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce of London. Flexform is an Italian company based in Meda, Italy, in the center of the La Brianza furniture manufacturing district. Founded in 1959 by the Galimberti brothers, the company designs, manufactures and sells furniture and accessories for residential and public interiors. All production still takes place exclusively in Italy in order to keep the Made in Italy product in its original shape. The tables are in original vintage condition with minor traces of use, minor staining and scratches. One of the tables has a circular magnetic base on the top.

Giulio Lazzotti Megeia coffee table pair Italy 1979
By Giulio Lazzotti
Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Nice pair of coffee tables by Gulio Lazzotti and manufactured by Megeia, italy 1979. The base consists of four marble columns with beautiful cut lining. Three black and one white. Two black columns are shaped like half a cylinder. The other two are two cylinders with a diameter which perfectly fits in the half parts, a nice visual detail. The bases can be put in a playful position to your wishes. The large square tops are from thick glass. The tables are in excellent condition. Priced and sold in a set of 2. This Postmodern design resembles the relationship between ancient masonry skills and applying these traditions in modern forms. Like some other Italian designers, Lazzotti in particular has an innovative approach towards experimenting with form, especially in stone and marble, and applying these mainly into tables. Giulio Lazzotti is an Italian designer and architect who has always given an important place to objects’s sculptural dimension. A great lover of marble, his work is modern, reconciliating a sense of craftsmanship with industrial production. Often hired as a consultant for his experience, Giulio shares his attention to detail throughout the world and collaborates with major furniture brands. The name of the town where Giulio Lazzotti lives and works, Pietrasanta, can be alternately translated as Saint Peter or “holy stone,” the latter being wholly appropriate for a designer and architect whose work in marble, metal and wood takes on a serene, sculptural presence. Lazzotti was educated at the prestigious University of Florence, where he later returned to teach architecture. Since 1975, Lazzotti has maintained a diverse practice encompassing architecture, interior design and furniture design, winning such awards as first prize for Design at the Moving Fair of Paris, the Torre Guinigi prize in Lucca for Urban Design for the historical center of Pietrasanta, a top ten in the International Chair...
