About the Item
Basiluzzo is a UHPC concrete coffee table designed by Paolo Cappello for Forma&Cemento and belongs to the Panarea Capsule Collection. It takes shape from sharp volumes and inclined surfaces, like a fragment emerging from a distant seascape. Its bold cuts recall natural geometries that withstand time and movement. Each element is compact, sculptural, and designed to last.
Handcrafted through a special process that creates a distinctive “sanded” effect, Basiluzzo highlights the sand of the Tiber contained within the mix, building a bridge between the marine landscape and the Roman territory.

Forma&Cemento's products are handmade in Ultra High Performing Cement mortar! Our production process is completely artisanal and for this reason each piece is unique and no two are the same. To preserve the beauty of our concrete and highlight its peculiar features we use colour pigments which are poured directly into the concrete mixture.
Any imperfections on the surface such as chromatic variations, porosity, fine cracks, and granulations of different colors are characteristics of the material and of the artisan process;for this reason they are not to be considered defects.

Forma&Cemento was founded in 2014 by partners with a background in architecture, engineering, yacht building and concrete manufacturing. Our mission is to design and manufacture products in concrete in such a way that the material, traditionally considered poor by comparison will, through skilled craftsmanship, become prized among the choicest marbles and the most sought after woods.
