About the Item

This is an eye-catching wooden coffee table designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara, manufactured by Laukaan Puu in Finland around 1950. It is made of two different tones of wood. The base is a deep black lacuqered wood, while the pine wooden square top of the piece has a natural light brown colour. The minimalist design of this piece combines really nicely with the rustic materials and creates a unique modern style that is typical for the work of Tapiovaara. It remains in good, original condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a wonderul patina.

Roland Wilhelmsson “Kvadrat” Coffee Table, Sweden 1970s
By Roland Wilhelmsson
Located in Utrecht, NL
Designed by Roland Wilhelmsson, this “Kvadrat” table is from the era when Swedish design and culture started attracting design-conscious international buyers on a large scale. The model’s design is dated to 1972, and this particular table was manufactured in Huskvarna, where the manufactory still operates, for more than four generations now.
