About the Item

A Chinese Qing Dynasty period low Kang table from the 19th century, with chow legs, carved apron and restored with custom red distressed lacquer. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty period in the 19th century, this low kang table will make for a wonderful drinks or low coffee table! Should you need a pop of color, this table has been newly and professionally relacquered with a stunning red finish with great distressing. The table features a rectangular top with central board, sitting above a waisted apron with carved accents. This décor runs on all sides, the table will therefore be able to float in a room and be seen from all angles. The ensemble is raised on four chow legs. Coffee tables as we call them now evolved from the Kang tables that were developed in the Ming Dynasty. Those low tables were long and rectangular with short legs and placed on a kang which was a raised three-walled platform. With its clean lines and distressed red lacquered finish, this Chinese Qing Dynasty period low Kang table from the 19th century will make for a statement in any home, placed in a living room or under a covered patio.
