Rare Italian Modern Neoclassical Gilt Bronze Coffee Table Attr. to Gio Ponti
About the Item
Rare, important Italian midcentury cocktail table in the modern neoclassical style attributed to Gio Ponti.
The table is set on four delicate gilt bronze and black enameled legs that dramatically alternate between turning and tapering. A silver Roman travertine top is inset into the frame of the table that has a gilt bronze border.
Literature and exhibition:
A similar style model was presented in 1930 by Ponti at the 4th Monza Triennale. This similar style model was featured in Gio Ponti, The Complete Work, 1923-1978 by Lisa Licitra Ponti. See last photo.
