Reclaimed Silver Maple Hand Hewn Table with Sho Sugi Ban
About the Item
This Impressive rustic table is created from a reclaimed 250 year old Silver Maple trunk and it must be seen to fully understand its beauty. The trunk was spotted in a field by the artist who is both creative and a skilled craftsman. The wood was cut and brought it to his studio where it was sanded and balanced. The interior was burned in Japanese the technique of Sho Sugi Ban, which blackens the interior of the wood and creates a beautiful contrast to the exterior of the maple. steel plates were cut from an 8" support beam and the wood was routed to exact dimensions to receive the steel. The 1/2" glass is cantilevered, resting on the metal plates, and is also meticulously wedged into the trunk at precise dimensions. A true work of art that carries the energy and hard work of its creator.
This silver maple trunk table is large in scale and importance and would be stunning any ranch property, ski lodge or on a covered patio, patiently waiting to rest your bourbon or glass of wine at the end of a long day.
The artist cuts each table from reclaimed wood that inspires him. He does take commissions if the style is possible. Each work is unique and full of character.
