About the Item

This one of a kind piece by John Brevard was created in 2009. The piece combines Iron and Petrified wood. The Petrified wood slabs rotate along the bottom so you can customize the piece to fit your interior aesthetic. This rustic yet elegant piece ages with time and is an incredible talking point for any space. This piece is from the Fabri Series: Fabric like endless weaving landscapes which unite to become one. Steel and petrified wood series: Merging Economy and Ecology is made from materials such as, petrified wood (a natural artifact whose age ranges from millions to hundreds of millions of years) and metals (a product of our tectonic era) to reflect the connection between man and nature and to demonstrate the potential for humanity to merge economy with ecology. About the Designer: John Brevard applies his background in architecture and multidisciplinary arts to create ethereal designs that are not only visually stunning but also conceptually powerful. Inspired by the principles of natural order, each creation is symbolic of the inseparable relationship of the part to the whole. After a near death experience, Brevard developed a fascination with proportions and patterns found in nature and theoretical sciences, namely sacred geometry and phenomenology. Brevard manifests this vision through an experience, which encompasses and merges design, fashion, architecture, and technology for an integrated new world.   Orthofract/Blockchain: The Orthofract Blockchain collection features interlocking cubic forms, merging the form and formlessness. Derived from the Greek word orthos (“straight, erect”), these rectilinear fractal pieces are the artistic representation of records (blocks) being linked together into a chain (blockchain). Like computer chips, this collection embodies the potential of technological growth.
